Project: GMI Construction , Monks Cross Shopping Park, York

Requirement:

As part of the alteration and remodeling works to Monks Cross Shopping Park we were asked by our client GMI Construction to provide a quotation for various elements of discreet Bird Proofing to several areas of this exciting construction project.

Solution:

As an approved sub-contractor, Eco Environmental were instructed to install our Avi-Shock system to the tops of all the Feature Boxes as well as to the four new Retail Pods.

Avi-Shock is an electric bird deterrent, that deters birds from perching, roosting and nesting on ledges with a harmless electric shock and as you can see from our pictures Avi-Shock is an invisible Bird Deterrent from the roadside.

We also installed our 50mm Bird Netting to the rear of each of the features boxes to prevent nesting birds – zip access installed to the netting in order to gain maintenance entry to these areas.

Access Strategy:

Access was achieved by the use of a 7.8m electric scissor lift – these MEWPS were supplied by our partners Nationwide Platforms and offer safe, versatile access both indoors and outdoors.

The most significant MEWP dangers arise from operation and use of the machine rather than from their movement as a site vehicle, this is why all of our MEWP operators are IPAF trained and tool box talks carried out prior to works commencing.

Comments:

All works were successfully completed on time and delivered within budget – Jonathan Taylor (Eco Project Manager) kept track of the project and motivated the installation teams to finish each element of the Bird Control works within the allocated time period.
