We did it! Running Plymouth Half Marathon for Charity

On Sunday 28th April, two members of the Eco Environmental Services team ran the Plymouth Half Marathon in an effort to raise funds for two UK charities.

Raising awareness and funds for Brain Tumour Research and Shine Together (a Bristol charity supporting the work of Southmead and Frenchay Hospitals), and after months of training the pair set off from the Hoe to start their 13.1 mile journey around Plymouth.

Eco Environmental Services Director Fiona Kerslake ran for Bristol-based charity Shine Together, which supports fundraising and appeals for patient care and research projects at Frenchay and Southmead hospitals in Bristol.

Our Office Administrator Kayleigh Jones ran for Brain Tumour Research, a charity set up specifically to raise substantial funds for brain tumour research as it receives less than 1% of national cancer research spending in the UK.

Fiona and Kayleigh completed the Plymouth half marathon in 2hrs 35mins 01seconds with Fiona commenting "it felt more like 40 days and 40 nights!”.

Together, they raised around £600 to date with more money promised to come in. If you'd like to support the pair in their fantastic efforts, you can still donate via their JustGiving fundraising pages until 27th July 2013:
