Pigeon Fouling & Guano Removal
Eco Environmental were saddened to learn of the deaths of two patients at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital after they contracted a fungal infection caused by pigeon droppings. Below we share some information regarding the health risks and methods that should be used to address the problem of pigeon fouling.
Cleaning and the Removal of Pigeon Fouling also known as Droppings or Guano is no different to any other type of commercial cleaning works that are carried out on a daily basis.
The important factors are that these types of works need to be carried out when the problem is first identified, by personnel who are familiar and trained to work in this hazardous environment and who will be wearing the appropriate PPE to protect them against any health or safety risks on site.
Finally, the right control measures need to be put in place to prevent the problem from re-occurring.
Following a bespoke site survey, a suitable Risk Assessment and Method Statement will be issued for use on site detailing the correct Fouling removal and cleaning procedure as well as explaining what tools and products can be applied.
Eco Environmental are able to provide a full fouling and nest removal service that is totally compliant with existing Health and Safety Regulations and Standards.
