Bristol Hospital Receives Effective and Discreet Pigeon Deterrent Solution

Eco Environmental's Western Bird Control Division were invited to tender for a bird deterrent package on behalf of Laing O'Rourke, the main contractors on the Bristol Royal Infirmary Hospital Contract known as Centralisation of Specialist Paediatrics (CSP).

Working with Laing O'Rourke's construction team, our Bristol Contract Manager, David Harry, researched a pigeon deterrent system that was not only effective but also discreet so as not to interfere with or detract from the design of this impressive development.

A bird deterrent solution combining pigeon spikes and our bird netting system Birdnet was designed and specified to resolve problems with pigeons and seagulls, which are known to affect many parts of Bristol's central area.

There were several difficulties to overcome primarily the issue of working at height to safely access and install our bird control systems.

Eco Environmental's approach to Health and Safety meant a full, site specific risk assessment and method statement were undertaken and agreed in advance of the project in order to minimise any risk of danger to our operatives, members of the public and did not pose any risk to the large number of other trades present during this period of construction.

Our trusted bird control team in Bristol primarily carries out work for the more involved Construction sector, and so they were perfect for the job. All of our team members hold appropriate Health and Safety certificates and training awards relevant to Construction to ensure all areas of a pigeon deterrent installation follow the safe system of work our Contracts Managers agree with the client.
