Project: Willmott Dixon – Aurora , Finzels Reach, Bristol, Avon

Requirement:

Eco Environmental Services worked closely with our client and design team to ensure that the most appropriate Ballast System be installed on this landmark Grade A, BREEAM Outstanding, Headquarter Building of 95,531 sq ft in Bristol's central business district. Further information relating to this building can be found by visiting http://aurora-bristol.com/#home

Eco were asked to prevent birds from picking up the Pebble Ballast, potentially dropping it through glass atria shattering dangerously on to people below. Another risk discussed was the potential for the Pebble Ballast being dropped from height on to cars or pedestrians in the surrounding areas such as walkways and car parks.

Solution:

The solution required had to be fully compatible with the IKO roofing system used, specifically that no mechanical fixings were to be installed through the roof make up - this was achieved by Eco Environmental supplying and installing our own discreet Ballast Netting System to include for all materials and non-Mechanical fixings.

Access Strategy:

Internal access on to Roof areas with full edge protection facilities employed.

Comments:

Project Manager Dave Harry personally thanked the install team for playing their part in completing this very successful project at Finzels Reach. Our install works can often be complex yet critical to the overall completion of the project so we were delighted to have finished safely, on time, within budget and to the required quality standard.
