Project: Interserve , Scunthorpe Market (Former BHS Store)

Requirement:

Eco Environmental were invited to submit a competitive tender at the end of August 2018 and as often within our Bird Control industry this project required a quick turnaround due to the anticipated start date on site.  Working with our client Interserve and in partnership with North Lincolnshire Council our experienced Project Management team for the North East were able to deliver the necessary viable quotation to secure these works which formed part of an Early Contractor Involvement contract.

To carefully remove the existing Pigeon guano from the roof top 2nd plant area and ground level loading area; supply and install our Eco Bird Netting system to the plant space in situ.

We are able to provide a full fouling and nest removal service that is totally compliant with existing Health and Safety Regulations and Standards.

Pigeon guano and the associated build-up of nesting debris is often a host to other insects including the Common Housefly, Bluebottles, Green Bottles and Flesh Flies all of whom pose a danger to humans.

Solution:

Our trained technicians wearing in date and fit for purpose PPE inclusive of face fitted masks carried out a comprehensive fouling clean to the floor, gutter, and plant units on the flat roof of this building; the Loading Bay area clean was completed as part of these works.  This was achieved by removing the treated bulk fouling from the area and then power washed, the locale was then again spray treated with a biocide to kill any bacteria and insect activity to leave all work zones safe for onward access.

The treated pigeon guano was safely bagged and placed in the designated site skip for onward disposal – Eco Environmental are licenced waste carriers and offer Waste Transfer notes as part of our duty of care.

Supplied and installed our 50mm Bird Netting system to deny any future birds from accessing this problem area – support posts, stainless steel fixings and a dropout out hatch that allowed for additional plant systems were allotted for at the point of installation.

Access Strategy:

Access Strategy: CSCS and SMSTS trained technicians carried out the various works on the ground level within the Loading Bay area; Roof top plant unit area accessed internally through the main building and out onto to the flat roof area; when working at height it's important to protect yourself and keep secure at all times hence our install teams are able to utilise where required the correct and safe use of their harnesses and lanyards. Comments:

Comments: - Project Manager Stephen Gowling commented that “Due to the prompt turnaround required on site our team adopted a structured approach to ensure that these works were carried out in line with our quotation and to budget to enable the client to proceed with their further onward works”
