Pigeon Proofing to Borough Market SE1
Following the success of a previous Project at Clink Street Bridge, one of our longstanding Civils clients reached out once again for our expert pigeon-proofing services on a new site. The client, impressed with our previous quality of work and the strong working relationship developed during the Clink Street Bridge installation, sought to replicate that success on this latest initiative.
Working from architectural drawings and plans provided by the client, our Project team quickly developed an initial budget proposal for Network Rail’s review. After a period of collective discussions, involving specification adjustments and further clarification, the proposal was formally approved several weeks later.
Approval status triggered the next stage of the Project—a complete site survey and walkaround with the on-site team. This visit provided us with a vital insight into the working area, allowing the us to assess the unique challenges of the location and begin planning the installation with precision and efficiency in mind due to the completion deadline set.
Method of works – Supply and install 50mm x 50mm, 12-gauge hot-dip galvanized (HDG) weldmesh sheets to the abutments and underside of the bridge. The mesh was securely braced using Unistrut framing to provide structural support. A variety of appropriately sized bridge clamps were used to fasten the mesh panels firmly in place. Additionally, stainless steel pigeon spikes were installed on the external flanges and columns beneath the bridge to deter bird activity.
This Project is part of an ongoing effort to improve infrastructure cleanliness and safety by reducing the impact of the urban pigeon population residing there . Our pigeon-proofing measures will not only protect the structural integrity of the site but also contribute to a cleaner and safer environment for workers and the public.
We look forward to our continued success within the Civil sector and the exciting opportunities it brings.
