Congratulations to Dave Harry on his Swimathon 2015

It's been a tough but very worthwhile swimming journey for our Wales and West Contracts Manager Dave Harry who recently took part in Swimathon 2015 fundraising for Ehlers-Danlos syndrome.

Dave successfully swam 5KM (3 miles) and raised £455 towards ongoing research into this condition – a huge thank you to everyone that sponsored and supported Dave along the way including his lovely wife Michaela who kept count of his laps and times.

Ehlers-Danlos syndrome is a group of disorders that affect connective tissues, these are the tissues that support the skin, bones, blood vessels and other organs.

Defects in connective tissues cause the signs and symptoms of Ehlers-Danlos syndrome which can vary from mildly loose joints to life-threatening complications.

Dave's eldest daughter Bronwen was a very impressive, flexible 14 year old elite swimmer who has now transformed into a 20 year-old young lady suffering from chronic pain and joint dislocations in her sleep…….. simply holding a cup of coffee is enough to bring on unwanted pain and mobility impairment.

Unfortunately to date Ehlers-Danlos syndrome is poorly researched and there is a lot more than we can do as EDS UK strive to educate the medical community promoting joined up medical care, treatment, management and improved accurate diagnosis. They fund vital research to further understand EDS.

It's not too late to sponsor Dave – you can visit his Just Giving page where any donation will be gladly received www.justgiving.com/David-Harry/
