Requirements
The Facilities Department @ Into Exeter University made contact with Eco Environmental Services when they were looking to install a preventative Gull Net as well as carry out Hand Rail improvement works at the above site.
Aggressive, resident Gulls were already nesting on the raised roof sections making it impossible and un-safe for the maintenance teams to visit the roof and carry out works in the Spring & Summer time.
Solution
Gull Netting System: – Eco Environmental attended site; supplied and installed our 50mm Gull Netting with stainless steel fixings; Zip access installations can be factored in to allow for maintenance access. The Gull roof was installed on padded roof mounts allowing us to seal off the higher roofs sections. All of our Bird Netting is heavy duty, UV Stabilised which means that the material will not deteriorate in sunlight and retains its shape for many years.
Hand Rail Improvement Works: –
Eco Environmental installed one of our weighted 48mm OD galvanised tube hand rail systems around sections of the roof requiring maintenance access and in doing so we were able to provide a safe operating environment for all working within these areas.
Access Strategy
Internal stair access coupled with a MEWP fitted with a SkyRak Boom allowing the safe carriage of materials up to 90kg in weight on a wide range of boom lifts. All of our IPAF trained MEWP operators have attended a recognised operator training course and received a certificate and card listing the categories of MEWP the bearer is trained to operate.
